OUR VISION

We believe that the unreasonable attention to detail and the passion that we have for design helps us get the overall best outcome for our clients.

About Mia

Flowers were not her first love.

Mia’s journey began in the Louisiana country where DIY house renovations were the norm. Painting a room with her Mom was always on the to-do list and helping her Dad build something for or related to the house was bound to happen every few months and she absolutely loved it.

“I remember sitting in rooms of my house and thinking about how to change it into something wildly beautiful. It was constant. No matter where I went. The visions and thoughts of bringing things to life with color, texture and form never stopped.” -Mia

A huge part of design is how someone FEELS when they walk into a space.

With her education and experience as a designer for over 14 years, Mia understands that flowers play a huge role in not only the look, but the feel of your space. Colors, textures and proportions, if used correctly, can come together to create true thing of beauty. Making sure you never forget that initial feeling of your space is something Root strives to achieve.

Through the years

1997 /

I’m in middle school, dreaming about meeting Hanson and starting my own band, but house projects took priority and were always in play. “How can I make things look and function better?” was a constant thought in my head.

2008 /

Completed my degree in Interior Design and went on to get my first “big girl job” as a Product Design Assistant.

2012 /

After lack of passion in the industry of Interior Design. I decided to try my hand at Floral Design. I launched Root Floral Design out of a 245 sq. ft. shed on my parents property in the country. Hustle was the only option and I did EVERYTHING I could to get myself known.

2013 /

Moved my business to an official space in Downtown Lafayette where I continued to grow and would hire my first employees. Fun was had, but growing pains were so very real.

2018 /

Launched our first ever Event Collections that were all shoppable online. These were created for a stress-free, budget friendly approach to ordering flowers for a wedding/event. We started with 4 collections and now have a total of 21 all available online.

2021 /

After years of producing work only for weddings/events, we opened our very first storefront and now sell plants, gifts and offer everyday flower arrangements to our customers.

2024 /

Root is now 12 years old, with a total of 6 employees. We continue to strive for excellence every single day for our clients, while trying to maintain the passion we have for all things design.

the heart behind
WHAT WE DO

Sometimes, being unreasonable isn’t a bad thing. At Root, we have an unreasonable passion for design. That passion translates into something that we hope our clients love and appreciate. The smile on their face is usually the perfect indication and just knowing that we’ve added something beautiful to their day is everything!

Amelia Biere

Lead Designer/Project Manager

Amelia has been a lead designer with Root Floral since 2015 and has played a huge role in the company’s success. She moved here in 2014 from the midwest after falling in love with Louisiana culture. Aside from her amazing ability to manage every project from start to finish, she is an incredible floral designer who’s skills have only gotten better over the years.

Outside of work, Amelia’s talent continues as a musician in several Cajun and Country bands where she sings and plays fiddle and guitar. We feel so grateful to have Amelia part of our team!

Jacie Lopez

Designer and Storefront Manager

She has been with Root Floral since 2021. She had a very early start in both the event and botanical industries: catering and landscaping are subjects that her family are very well versed in. Because of this, Jacie loves anything botanical, floral, or event related! After she graduated from ULL with a degree in Interior Design, she decided to keep chasing her passions locally and try her hand in the floral industry. In a short time, she has rapidly developed her floral design skills, becoming an essential part of our team.

Her ability to play with colors, textures, and shapes has elevated our floral creations. Beyond flowers, Jacie loves reading, knitting, crocheting, and creating just about anything she can get her hands on. She loves being a plant mom and spending time with her fiancé, Ian, and their two dogs, Tobi and Cain. She values the collaborative and supportive atmosphere at Root Floral and enjoys merging her Interior Design background with floristry to create memorable experiences for our customers. We’re lucky to have Jacie, whose passion, creativity, and dedication continue to bloom at Root Floral.
